Project: William Parker Sports Hall

New indoor sports hall to house 4 badminton courts, gymnastics tumble track, storage area and changing rooms.

Our proposed sports hall design and quote were very well received making it through the short listing process. Our scheme along with one other was presented to the school committee.

The design proposal was to create an efficient structure that was also aesthetically pleasing and an interesting design that would meet the clients brief and the LA’s requirements. The main structure of the building was based around the use of a portal steel frame allowing large clear spans. The curved roof had a series of steel arched “ribs” connecting to ground level, to be used as the rain water carriers and the facades were steel cladding with the use of robust gabions at low level. Lastly the ancillary changing areas and WC’s were designed with cost and function in mind and we proposed utilising recycled shipping containers.
